Magic Tournament!

Hello my fellow magic players!

It is time to test your skill.. time to test your guts.. time to test your deck! It is time.. for a magic tournament!

At the next Gaming Extravaganza, which is currently scheduled for March 6th, there will be a Magic tournament. Ryan is trying to get this to be an official part of the Extravaganza which would mean that we'll have a prize. Even if it isn't officially part of the Extravaganza we'll still be doing the tourney. Abby and I are also working on getting the event to be DCI sanctioned; more on this later.

The tournament will likely be single-elimination using the same bracket system that is used for all of the other Extravaganza tournaments. Each round will consist of three matches; the first person to get the best of three wins the round and will continue. The last one standing wins (obviously).

The tournament will be the Legacy format. Just about all sets are allowed in this format, so you should be able to use pretty much any card that you want. No gold or silver bordered cards allowed and no proxies. Minimum deck size is sixty cards, and there is no maximum deck size. You are allowed to have a sideboard of exactly fifteen cards.

You will be allowed to change your deck, using only the cards from your sideboard, in between matches. You may not sideboard before the first match in a round. You may freely exchange cards in your deck with those in your sideboard at a 1:1 ratio. After you’ve finished exchanging cards your sideboard must contain exactly fifteen cards. The cards that you have in your deck at the start of the tournament, minus your sideboard, is your default deck list. At the beginning of each round you are required to change your deck back to the default deck list; so take out any cards from your sideboard and put back any cards you took out of your deck.

Cheesecake festival!

OMG, it almost slipped my mind but the cheesecake fest is this Saturday... ONLY! Although I don't know the exact location yet, I do know its only one day to buy super discounted and super hard to find cheesecakes! Next to Ribfest there really isn't a better time of year, so drop a comment here if you're interested in coming and I'll update the post when I figure out all the details.

EDIT - Ok not true, it turns out its on Sunday as well and I checked in with my Sister (who clued me in on it from last year) and she's planning and early Sunday visit. BUT it looks like the "Dock Sale" which is the actual sale of the bulk cheesecake is Saturday ONLY. Like I originally said. So I have no idea when I'm going. Lets talk it out on Friday.

Renaissance Faire & Camp Out

Mawgs,

This is an open invitation for all to come join us on Labor day weekend for an exciting 3 day experience of medieval survival! The plan is as follows, please feel free to attend both, either, or neither of these activities:

Renaissance Faire - Saturday, August 30th:

We will be attending the fair in the morning and will most likely spend the majority of the day there.

There are discount coupons available online. We will bring printouts of the coupon and pair up before entering the fair. Let's hope for even numbers!
The discounted price is:
Ren. Faire w/ buy 1 get 1 coupon = $10

Camp Out - Friday, August 29th - Sunday, August 31st:

That's right, we're going camping! We will be heading out Friday afternoon for Richard Bong State Recreation Area in Wisconsin. The following is a brief description of the site:

"Approximately 4,515-acres await visitors to this multi-use recreation area in Kenosha County. The recreation area offers traditional outdoor activities as well as unique opportunities. Dog training, model airplanes, rocketry and falconry co-exist with rare species and habitats.
"

Location: 17.5 miles from the Renaissance Faire - Approx. 23 min

Vehicle charge for the weekend - $10 x2 cars = $20/6 = $3.30
Total Cost per person for the weekend = $12.30

If we are not in multiples of 6, price may vary slightly.

Slacker Summary

Schedule:
