Zombie Movie Night 2.0

Hey everyone, I was out shopping today and I happened to run across quite a haul of straight to DVD Zombie films, pretty dirt cheap too. One of them is ACTUALLY a George A. Romero called "Diary of the Living Dead" which I'd never heard about. Anyways, the reason I'm blogging today is to actually organize a Zombie Movie Night at my place some weekend coming up. I'm thinking Sat. the 14th or Sat. the 21st at about noon to however many movies we can get thru. (I've got about 5 now) There isn't going to be any kind of rules to it, just bring some snacks if you want, I'll provide nourishment and I'll try to have a few Zombie boardgames that I've been looking to try if anyones interested. Otherwise just sit, relax, enjoy some brain food and fun!

Also, I will be sure to preview all the movies beforehand so we don't end up with another "Shaolin Vs. Evil Dead" situation where everyones asleep for 2 hours.

So give me your impressions and I'll send up an G-evite later in the week when I confirm an exact weekend.

PSC Radio freezes over, with Blizzard!

It's Over 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone, I'm once again posting regarding PSCRadio (the little podcast that could). We're on what I think is our 7th episode, and doing great! Currently we've been taking some time to ponder more interesting topics since we jumped all over most of our favorite pastimes/currenttimes already. So I'm actually posted here today to send out an open invitation to June 29th podcast (1pm, Sunday) on which we will love on/hate on all things Blizzard!! From Warcraft 2 to Blackthorne, Diablo to World of Warcraft, anything goes! I thought this topic might interest some of you more then our previous ones, so if it gets your gamers blood boiling (in a good way) please let me know and we'll make a seat for you on the show! The date itself is still tentative because it's pretty far off, though I don't foresee it changing unless there is some specific objection.

Team Speak & Hamachi Servers Up and Running!

Hey All,
Here's an exciting update that'll help MAWGS be even more coordinated, especially during remote multiplayer gaming! Thanks to Brad who set up the server on his personal machine, we now have a Team Speak (group voice chatting application) server available to us 24/7. In order to utilize this service, you must be connected to our network on Hamachi (a VPN: makes it as if you are always in a LAN with the rest of us). Here's how you can take advantage of this exciting MAWGS privilege immediately:

Connecting to Hamachi

1. Sign up with and download Hamachi
   
2. Join our network:
   Name: mawgs
   Password: password
   
   

Connecting to Team Speak 2

1. Download TeamSpeak 2
   
2. Enter Server Info:
   Server IP: 5.0.82.204
   Password: mawgs
   
3. Enter your name/handle and select the Anonymous radio button
   
4. Connect!
   
5. Important note: For the sake of Brad's internet connection, please make the following change to your Team Speak 2 settings: Go to Settings -> Options. Select the Bandwidth tab and limit the upload rate to 24 kbits/s
   

That's it! You can now play all your favorite LAN games with us with full voice interaction.

The following points are some optional settings to look into for an optimal gaming experience. Feel free to add your own comments for additional tips:

• Throttle your bandwidth:
  Voice chat is important but you don't want it draining your network resources and adversely affecting your gaming experience. Go to Settings -> Options. Select the Bandwidth tab and limit the upload/download rates at the bottom. Recommended setting for both options: 24 kbits/s
  
  
• Set hands-free voice activation:
  This is completely a matter of preference but it is something that has worked well for me. I activated the Voice Activation option so now the mic sends my voice over if I speak at a certain volume without having to press a button. Makes communication easier during in-game heated situations. Go to Settings -> Sound Input/Output Settings. Select the Voice Activation radio button. You will have to play with the bar a little to tweak it so you can still mash keys/whisper/pass wind without activating the mic, yet you don't have to scream for the mic to register you are talking to it. It's fun, give it a try!
  
  
• Add a hot key for muting the mic, especially if you are using Voice Activation. Comes in handy when you get a phone call or need to talk in private with someone. Go to Settings -> Key Settings and set all the hot keys you want.
